About the Role

This is a full-time on-site Intern role at the Center for GIS at School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. The Intern will be involved in day-to-day activities supporting various academic and research projects within the institution. Responsibilities may include assisting faculty members, conducting literature reviews, data analysis, and contributing to project presentations. We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated candidates for a full-time, on-site internship at the Center for GIS, School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), New Delhi. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in GIS and related areas, working alongside experts in urban planning and spatial analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

As an intern, you will contribute to the Center’s academic and research initiatives. Specific tasks may include:

Academic Support:

Assisting faculty members in preparing course materials, workshops, and training sessions related to GIS and spatial analysis. Supporting GIS-based academic exercises, including map-making and spatial data interpretation.

Research Assistance:

Conducting literature reviews on topics such as urban planning, geospatial analysis, and sustainable development. Collecting, managing, and analyzing spatial and non-spatial datasets to support ongoing research projects. Applying GIS tools and methodologies to solve real-world problems related to urban and regional planning.

Data Analysis and Visualization:

Assisting in data preprocessing, cleaning, and analysis using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
Producing high-quality maps, charts, and visuals for reports, presentations, and publications.
Exploring emerging tools and technologies in GIS to enhance project outcomes.

Project Contributions:

Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to contribute to institutional projects.
Preparing reports, policy briefs, and presentation materials for internal and external stakeholders.
Participating in fieldwork or data collection (as required) for spatial data verification or research purposes.

Skills and Qualifications:

Education: Enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Studies, GIS, or related fields.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar) and spatial analysis techniques.
Basic knowledge of data visualization tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R) is a plus.

Soft Skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting.

Requirements

  • Qualifications

    • Strong knowledge of Phython, Anaconda, Keras, C, C++ and other programming language

    • Knowledge of use of AI for image processing and LLM models

    • Knowledge of GIS at advanced level

    • Past knowledeg on work on AI/ML projects

    • B.Tech/B. Arch/B. Plan/B. E./B. Sc. (M. Tech/M. Arch/M. Plan may also be apply)

    • Research, Data Analysis, and Literature Review skills

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

    • Knowledge of computer science, machine learning, architecture, urban planning, or related fields

    • Enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in relevant discipline

  • Renumeration and Period

    Interns may be paid nominal renumeraiton based on availbility of fund and work completed during internship. Total period of internship will be 4 to 8 weeks.
